Super Blue

(David Munyon / John Scott Sherrill / Don Devaney)

Chrome and blue fire on a rainy street in 1966

Everybody in this whole town says,

"there goes that kid"...

You could hear him coming seven block away

Always playing "Peggy Sue"

And written there on his license plate,

It said...Super Blue

SUPER BLUE... AH, SUPER BLUE

Ah, nothing could ever slow him down

Not even that one girl's kiss

There really was no rival for that 396

He was always talking about California

And the things he was gonna do

But, even today... down at the Stop n' Save

You could still see Super Blue

SUPER BLUE... AH, SUPER BLUE

Zero to sixty in 4,9

140 at the quarter mile line

He was really flyin' through the cold night air

Sometimes he wonders as the years go past

How'd he ever go so fast and get nowhere

But, he still keeps it shinin' like a diamond

Here in 1994

And drives around listenin' for "Peggy Sue"

But he don't hear it anymore

Every now and then he leaves a little rubber

But nothin' like he used to do

And the kids all say who is that old man

In that cool Super Blue

SUPER BLUE... AH, SUPER BLUE
