Mercy in her eyes

Appeared on Pretty Blue

David Munyon

This is a song I wrote in the kitchen in Düsseldorf, for the cool, spiritual heart of my good friend Günter Wirtz. I was wearing my Johnny Cash shirt, that Dagi gave me when I wrote it.

(song for Günter W.)

He was seen in Oklahoma, on a sidewalk in the rain

Someone said he looked a little bit like Jesus as a teen

There was this old country angel, he used to be an engineer

He made most of rock n'roll, what it is in our ears

Life will take you on a ride

Like a circus ferries wheel

But you got to buy a ticket

And you know how that can feel

Life can be a roller coaster

But, towards the end of the night

It's gonna be alright

'Cause love has mercy in her eyes

I saw him once in Tulsa, he was walking out a door

He had the face of a man that had seen to much war

His old memories were in the Army, well he'd been to Iraq

And everyone knows how tired we are of all that

Life will take you on a ride

Like a circus ferries wheel

But you got to buy a ticket

And you know how that can feel

Life can be a roller coaster

But, towards the end of the night

It's gonna be alright

'Cause love has mercy in her eyes

I like the way she irons her clothes

Sometimes she cries when things ain't right

She see's me new, every morning

I don't know why, I don't know why

They said he made a couple movies

And robbed a county bank

They said he dressed like Johnny Cash

And he never ever drank

He was happy in his mind

And lonesome in his stroll

He would take your melody and probably touch your soul

Life will take you on a ride

Like a circus ferries wheel

But you got to buy a ticket

And you know how that can feel

Life can be a roller coaster

But, towards the end of the night

It's gonna be alright

'Cause love has mercy in her eyes
